Discovering the Joy and Peace of Serving Others and Embracing God's Plan for Our Lives

Grammy said …… GOD assigns the hand we're dealt for His purpose.

Allow me to share a gem of life that I have been blessed to realize.

We all, until we are enlightened by the Holy Spirit, are of the misguided opinion that we shape our own destiny. We speak gratitude to Almighty GOD for the good things happening in our lives, but then, the smallest things can derail the fantasy we've manufactured, and labeled as our lives. As long as everyone around us is in line with our design, marching to our drum beat, allowing ourselves to be controlled, micromanaged, and not dare to express their individuality, all's well with the world. As long as the language identified as our love language, is the language spoken, and the banquet is being catered to our taste, all's well with the world.

At what age do we cease blaming, and holding others responsible for the choices we make, and the hand dealt to us by Almighty GOD, because He had the plan and purpose for our lives?

I now know, without a shadow of a doubt, that GOD created me for the particular purpose of serving others. I am persuaded because it is when I am in that role, that I am most happy, and experiencing the most inner peace. Like all people, I am the sum total of my experience, and those experiences are what drives me, and allows me to relate to others. GOD allows us to experience what we do, so that when He sends the person/s needing us along, we are ready and able to be there for them, and help. I may not look like much to someone else, but I have just what is needed at the time. GOD often reassures me by reminding me of Zacchaeus and the sycamore tree. How, may one ask?

Zacchaeus was a little man, and wanted to see Jesus, so he climbed a sycamore tree. I don't recall the Bible stating what stage of maturity the tree was but suffice it to say that it was big enough to hold Zacchaeus to fulfill GOD'S purpose. GOD, the author and finisher of our faith, planted that tree, that many years prior, with the assignment of supporting Zacchaeus, so that he would be able to see Jesus as He passed.

The same is true for us. GOD places us in the family He chooses, with the people, the successes and shortcomings He allows, for us to fulfill His purpose.
