Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved craft... and jewellery! I made my very first piece of jewellery when I was nine. I made it from paper, and a combination of yellow, pink and red nail varnish. But somehow, over the years, as I became embroiled in my career as an accountant in the banking industry, I limited my creativity to just Christmas and birthdays. It was only then that I might take pleasure in hand-making a gift and packaging it so it would look "just right". (The penchant for jewellery didn't stop though, and I loved buying and wearing fine jewellery).

Then in the summer of 2005, as a result of doing some archetypal branding work with a fellow coach and friend, I found myself becoming increasingly drawn to colour and sound. I also found myself wanting to know more about healing from an energetic perspective. The coaching had also brought out a deeply felt passion to help people realise and remember that they are perfect as they are.

It wasn't long before I discovered crystals and semi-precious stones, and soon I was making pieces of jewellery as gifts for friends. That was in London. Now, I create and make my designs on the balcony of my home in the hinterland of the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. I am thrilled that my pieces have found their way to the UK, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Malaysia and the USA.

I think that the best way to describe the style of my jewellery is simplicity. In making a bespoke piece, I intuitively select the stones that feel right for the person whom the piece is for. I have found that somehow, the energetic healing properties of the stones that I intuitively pick are exactly those that the person needs at that time. It is not that the crystals themselves heal the person; rather, because of their vibrational qualities, they remind the person to be in a different frame of mind, which is helpful to their personal well-being.

I also believe that jewellery is not just an accessory for special occasions, but something to be worn all the time, everyday. I encourage wearers of Veronica's Gems to wear their piece as a constant reminder of "You Are Perfect As You Are". It is for that reason that I take great care to only knowingly use natural stones and crystal which have not been dyed, beached or irradiated in an attempt to enhance them. I also use sterling silver, gold-fill and Greek leather.

I have enjoyed every moment of creating Veronica’s Gems – from selecting the stones, designing and putting them together, to sourcing the packaging as well as wrapping it all up in its gift box.
